Disco

I did go to the disco last night. It was really great. Totally laid back....all sorts of people there. I expected it to be fancy with a dress code....not at all. But that's the way Berlin is. Everyone is welcome here. I wish I could stay......I really do. maybe I can use the return portion of my ticket on Jan 7????

Maybe it's weird to post on your own blog, but I want to add a few things that I didn't write because I wrote the original blog from the Dunkin' Doughnuts Internet Cafe in Zoologischer Garten. I realize now that my ideas of discos came entirely from what I'd seen on tv and perhaps the one on the cruise ship when I was in Greece. Caffe Burger, were we were was crowded. There was a guy in a suit who looked like he'd come from work, students in jeans and t-shirts, guys who danced really well....and some who didn't, including one charming fellow with geeky-cool glasses who danced with his hands in his pockets....and bought me a beer....
As for coming back to Berlin....I got talking with the lady next to me on the flight back and she suggested I apply for a grant for a travel project. Perhaps a Guggenheim grant or something. One of my classmates, Jennifer, is travelling through Europe on a fellowship, reading the works of German poet Rainer Maria Rilke and going to the places he lived and described in his poetry. I could do that.
